A Magical Family Adventure: Disney World + Disney Cruise on the Disney Wish
There’s something truly special about experiencing Disney through your child’s eyes—especially when that child is completely obsessed with Star Wars. Our latest family getaway combined the best of both worlds: the excitement of Walt Disney World Resort and the relaxation of a 4-night sailing aboard the stunning Disney Wish.
Starting Strong at Disney World
We kicked off our trip with two park days at Disney's Hollywood Studios and Magic Kingdom—a perfect combination for thrill rides and classic Disney magic.
Because we stayed on Disney property at Disney's All-Star Movies Resort and Disney's All-Star Music Resort, we unlocked some major perks—specifically early park entry (30 minutes before the general public) and complimentary transportation to the parks. And let me tell you… that early access was EVERYTHING.
We headed straight to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge and were able to ride Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance not once, but twice—with little to no wait. If you know, you know—that’s basically a Disney miracle!
At Magic Kingdom, even though our girls are a bit older (honestly, I think ages 9 and 12 are the perfect time to experience Disney), we found ourselves loving the classics just as much as the thrill rides. Attractions like Winnie the Pooh and “It’s a Small World” reminded us that some of the most magical moments come from slowing down and embracing the nostalgia and charm that Disney does so well.
Tips to Maximize Your Park Days
If you’re planning a Disney trip, here are a few things that made a huge difference for us:
Wear comfortable walking shoes – you’ll easily log miles each day
Stay hydrated – bring a refillable water bottle
Have a plan – know where rides and attractions are to avoid unnecessary backtracking
Use Lightning Lane passes – they are absolutely worth it to skip long lines and maximize your time
Pack your patience – Disney is magical, but it’s also busy
Slowing It Down on the Disney Wish
After two full park days, we transitioned into vacation mode aboard the Disney Wish—and it was the perfect balance.
From the moment we stepped onboard, everything felt elevated yet effortless. The dining experiences were fantastic (we especially enjoyed Worlds of Marvel), and the Broadway-style shows were beyond impressive—Disney really knows how to entertain.
One of the highlights? Pirate Night. Between the themed festivities and the fireworks at sea, it was an unforgettable evening for both kids and adults.
